In some ways, phase one of Malenia may be more challenging to deal with for ranged users than the second phase, and that's due to ranged players having almost no time to breath or create distance. Just let her carry out her attacks, jump in for a couple of hits, runaway, and repeat until you have her defeated! You can circle her and get one or two hits in, but you must immediately go on the defensive. If you don't have this as an option, we urge you to wait until she lands before attempting to damage her. We recommend baiting out her Scarlet Aeonia attack, running from it, and launching the Blood Blade Ashes of War at her. In phase two, you must utilize patience and should only attack when you have an opening. The only attacks you need to be ready for at all times are her Waterfowl Dance and Grab, which we covered how to counter in the segment above! If available, use weapons that can cause Bleed buildup, as that will periodically take large chunks of her health away. In addition to that, Malenia has incredibly low poise, which means you can interrupt her attacks and stunlock her from time to time. In the first phase of the encounter, the vast majority of Malenia's attacks are avoidable by rolling to the left or right as she performs them. The Dash Slash is telegraphed with a quick flash on the blade, giving you ample time to block or roll out of the way. However, we recommend running far away from her when she attempts following her kick up with the Multiple Slashes or the Grab. The grab cannot be blocked or parried.Ĭounter: Malenia's kick is easily telegraphed and can be avoided quite effortlessly if you're looking out for it. Kick > Grab: Malenia will grab her target and toss them high into the air while positioning her sword underneath them, impaling them on it when they come barreling back down. After a slight delay, she will follow her quick slashes up with one last strike. Kick > Multiple Slashes: Malenia will deliver two rapid strikes with her blade almost instantly after kick.Kick > Overhead Slam: Immediately after her kick, Malenia will perform a sword swipe and follow it with an overhead slam attack.Kick > Dash Slash: After Malenia's kick, she will pause briefly before unleashing a delayed dashing slash attack.Malenia's sweeping kick attack will get swiftly followed up with five possible moves, all of which are devastating to get caught by. Most of Malenia's attack prowess comes from just this one move. You can reach the Isolated Divine Tower via a teleporter on the Divine Bridge or the Tower of Ruin's teleportation chest. In addition to that, you will also receive Malenia's Great Rune, which you can activate by taking it to the Isolated Divine Tower. If you are successful in besting Malenia in combat, you will earn 480,000 Runes and the Remembrance of the Rot Goddess, which you can exchange for cool rewards with Enia at the Roundtable Hold. We recommend trying to tackle Malenia towards to end of the game when you are around Levels 90-100. Additionally, the whole area is brimming with excellent items and gear but has callous enemies, so come prepared. While this encounter is optional, it may be worth your time to seek it out as its one of the more unique battles in the entire game. However, to get here, you must first reach Miquella's Haligtree, which can take quite some time in its own right. The lift will then take you down to the Consecrated Snowfield area, which leads to where you need to go next.Malenia, Blade of Miquella, resides deep within Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree. You'll now have an option to present the Secret Haligtree Medallion do so. Now that you have both halves of the Secret Haligtree Medallion, go to the Grand Lift of Rold you originally used to go up to the Mountaintops of the Giants. Once he's dead, you'll find the left half of the medallion in the rooftop area located just after his boss arena. He does heavy frost and lightning damage and also summons two Banished Knights, so we recommend wearing some frost and lightning-resistant armor or talismans and either cooperating with other players or using Spirit Ash Summons to back you up. It can be found after you progress through the castle and defeat its boss, Commander Niall. To get the left part of the medallion, you'll need to go to Castle Sol in the northern part of the Mountaintops of the Giants region (location shown above).
